Althan adjoins Vesu on its eastern side, and a steady stream of Althan families have trained with us since 2016. The classroom is on the first floor of Canal Walkk Shoppers on VIP Road, opposite L.P. Savani School — on the Vesu side of the canal, a short drive from the Althan–Bhatar Road area.

Getting to the club from Althan

From Althan, head towards Vesu and VIP Road; L.P. Savani School is the landmark, and Canal Walkk Shoppers is directly opposite it. The club is on the first floor. Search "Surat Chess Club" on Google Maps for the exact pin. Google Maps puts the trip at 3.8 km, about 10 minutes by car via VIP Road in normal traffic. Parking is available outside.

Althan families split fairly evenly between weekday evenings and weekend mornings. If the after-school trip feels rushed, the Saturday 10:00 AM–1:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 AM–1:00 PM batches give a calmer start; older students on the Rook or Queen Plan add Play & Learn Sunday, 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

Rushi Shah, founder and FIDE-rated head coach, leads every Knight, Rook and Queen batch himself. Tournament players work with FM Jeet Jain (2312).

Real boards, small batches

Every session is over the board with a clock, in a batch small enough that the coach reaches every student during practice.

Kids and adults

Children from age four on the kids' programme; working adults and parents in the adults batch, Tuesday to Saturday 7:00–8:00 PM.

Our classroom is in neighbouring Vesu, on VIP Road opposite L.P. Savani School. Althan is one of the areas most of our families come from, so the trip is well trodden. The free trial is the best way to see whether the commute works for you.

Which timings work best from Althan?
Weekday slots run Tuesday to Friday, 4:00–8:00 PM; weekend batches are Saturday 10:00 AM–1:00 PM and 4:00–8:00 PM, and Sunday 10:00 AM–1:00 PM and 2:00–4:00 PM. Many Althan families choose a weekday plus a weekend session.
What does it cost?
Knight ₹4,999 (2 classes a week), Rook ₹6,999 (3 a week) and Queen ₹10,999 (every day, Tuesday to Saturday), each for three months, with 10% off for 6 months and 15% off for 12. King with FM Jeet Jain is ₹7,999 for three months (₹15,999 for both hours). Workbooks and puzzle sheets included. The trial class is free.
