Chess Classes near City Light, Surat
City Light families may already know us from the tournament hall: our Junior Rapid Chess Championship and our July 2026 open were both held at HopUp Sports Arena in City Light. Regular classes are at our Vesu classroom on VIP Road, opposite L.P. Savani School — a short drive from City Light.
Getting to the club from City Light
From City Light, head south towards Vesu and VIP Road. Canal Walkk Shoppers stands directly opposite L.P. Savani School; the club is on the first floor. "Surat Chess Club" on Google Maps gives you the door. Google Maps puts the trip at 3.7 km, about 10 minutes by car via City Light Road and Vesu Canal Road in normal traffic. Parking is available outside.
City Light students tend to take weekday evening slots (Tuesday to Friday, 4:00–8:00 PM) and then meet us again at the tournaments in City Light itself. Weekend batches are available for families who prefer them.

What City Light families get at Surat Chess Club
Rushi Shah, founder and FIDE-rated head coach, leads every Knight, Rook and Queen batch himself. Tournament players work with FM Jeet Jain (2312).

Every session is over the board with a clock, in a batch small enough that the coach reaches every student during practice.
Children from age four on the kids' programme; working adults and parents in the adults batch, Tuesday to Saturday 7:00–8:00 PM.
